Building a custom home requires hundreds of steps and constant coordination between architects, government agencies, designers, engineers, material suppliers and subcontractors. It may sound overwhelming, but we’ll handle it all on your behalf and consult with you on items requiring your input. Here’s a brief overview of the steps involved.

Planning

1

Property Consultation

Whether you already own a lot or are considering several locations, getting a handle on any potential difficulties and limitations early in the process is key. Drainage easements, setback restrictions, soil conditions, covenant restrictions, utility availability and topography are just some of the issues to consider. We’re happy to do site visits and provide experienced device so you can make well informed decisions.

2

Design & Budget Consultation

It’s not just about style, but a home that works well for the way you live. We spend significant time getting to know you and your family – your needs, wants, and lifestyle. Working with our interior design team and the area’s best architects, we develop a unique plan that you and your family will love to call home both now and for years to come.

Steps include:

  • Pre-design questionnaire to help identify your wants and needs
  • Preliminary design & budget meeting to make sure we are on the right track
  • Signing a Professional Service Agreement to start detailed plans and budgeting process
3

Architectural Design

Armed with a clear idea of your style, wants and needs, we work with the area’s best architects and home designers as well as our own interior designer to craft a plan that perfectly blends function and style into a custom home designed just for you. You’ll have ample opportunity to review plans and offer input to get just what you want.

4

Formal Design Proposal & Estimate

Once you’re satisfied with the plan, we’ll carefully estimate everything required to go into building your new home. We provide clear, accurate estimates with realistic allowances to avoid unwelcome budgetary surprises.

5

Financing & Proposal Approval

If your home requires a mortgage, we have a long standing relationship with a local lender that makes navigating through the lending process quick and easy. Once financing is in place and the contract is signed, we can begin construction.

6

Material & Fixture Selections

With a signed contract in place, it’s time to select materials and finishes. The number of options can be overwhelming, but with our interior designer with you every step of the way you can be confident in the choices you are making. We’ll help guide your selections and create a beautiful, cohesive design that fits both your style and your budget.

Construction

Once proper permits are obtained, we can begin construction. With our online portal, you can keep up to date with your home’s progress anytime you’d like.

Typical steps include:

  • Excavation and basement/foundation pouring
  • Backfill to rough grade
  • Frame floors and walls, and install roof trusses
  • Install roofing and windows
  • Plumbing and electrical rough-ins
  • Exterior siding
  • Interior drywall and paint
  • Flooring, tile, cabinetry and millwork installation
  • Doors and trim
  • Final installation of plumbing and electrical fixtures

Move In & Beyond

We’ll have your home cleaned top to bottom and do final inspections to ensure everything is up to our high standards of quality. Then, we’ll meet with you on site and go over everything to make sure we have not only met but exceeded your expectations.

Warranty & Followup

We like to check in with you a couple of weeks after move-in to ensure everything is going well with your new home and answer any questions you may have. We’ll do another follow-up at 90 days and 6 months. On the rare occasion a warranty issue arises, we take care of them quickly, professionally and most important with quality results.
